Doucki sits on the edge of the Fouta Djallon plateau where the ground drops away into a set of canyons cut into the sandstone, and a local guiding operation has run walks there for years on routes with names the guides gave them: Indiana Jones, the Chutes, the Kegneko. The walking is through gallery forest, along ledges and down into gorges, staying in huts in the village between days.

When to go
November to April is the dry season and the practical window. The rains from May to October make the routes dangerous. Harmattan haze in December and January cuts visibility.
Honest expectations
Accommodation is genuinely basic huts with no power. The walking involves exposed ledges and scrambling. Everything runs through the village operation and must be arranged ahead.
