Allee Dumanoir
An avenue of royal palms planted in the nineteenth century, running for a kilometre near Capesterre.

The Allée Dumanoir is a straight avenue of royal palms running for about a kilometre along the road near Capesterre-Belle-Eau, planted in the nineteenth century on the initiative of Pinel Dumanoir on the approach to an estate. Around a hundred of the original trees survive, standing in two lines with the road between them, and they have been protected as a listed site. Hurricanes have taken many over the years and replanting has been done.

When to go
December to April is the driest. Morning and late afternoon light suits the avenue. It is a roadside stop at any time.

It is a road with palms along it and the visit is a photograph. There is nowhere safe to stop for long on a busy route. Hurricane damage has thinned the original planting.
