Seurasaari is a wooded island just outside central Helsinki where old farmhouses, a church and manor buildings from all over Finland have been gathered into an open-air museum. Even without paying to enter the buildings, the island is a beloved leafy walk, and its midsummer bonfire is a Helsinki tradition.

Out of summer the buildings are closed and it is simply a pleasant island stroll rather than a museum. It is a short trip from the centre but not walkable. The pleasure is gentle, greenery and old timber, more than headline sights.
