The Camp and Wild Coast

When to go

November to March, the southern summer, is the mildest and most rewarding time to explore the Camp, with longer days, better weather and abundant wildlife; the landscape is windswept and cool year-round. Summer offers the best conditions for travel across the remote countryside.

Practical notes

The Camp is remote, sparsely populated and reached by rough tracks or small aircraft, with simple farm and lodge accommodation, so exploring it is an adventure requiring time and planning rather than easy touring, and the weather is famously windy.
