Buenavista

Buenavista sits on a ridge at around 1,450 metres with the land dropping away on both sides, and the village is essentially one street ending at a mirador looking east over the Quindio valley - coffee slopes, banana shade trees and the Central Cordillera behind, with the Cauca valley visible on a clear day. It is small, around two thousand people, and it sits within the Coffee Cultural Landscape inscribed by UNESCO in 2011 for the way smallholder coffee farming shaped the settlement pattern, architecture and terrain of this region. Several farms around the village run tours covering picking, wet processing, drying and roasting, and the harvest here runs twice a year rather than once because of the latitude.

The road up is steep, narrow and winding. The village is tiny with very few services. Cloud obscures the view frequently. Farm tours vary in depth and language.
