Camana Bay is a purpose-built town centre laid out between the North Sound and Seven Mile Beach, opened from 2007, with shops, offices, restaurants and a cinema arranged along a paved spine and a good deal of planting. At one end stands an observation tower with a mosaic stairway winding up it and a view over the sound, Seven Mile Beach and George Town from the top.
What you actually see
- The observation tower - the climb and the view over the sound and the beach.
- The mosaic stairway - the tiled marine scenes lining the ascent.
- The paved spine - the pedestrian street the development is built around.
- The planting - the landscaping through the whole site.
When to go
December to April is the dry high season. The tower is best in the late afternoon. Evenings are when the restaurants fill.
Honest expectations
It is a modern retail development and reads as one; nothing here is old. The tower is a stair climb with no lift. Parking is easy but the whole place is at high-season prices.
Nearby
Seven Mile Beach is west, and George Town is south.
